Reading & Republishing the WPA Slave Narratives of Texas with Dionne Babineaux
Date: Thursday, Sept. 11, 4:30 - 6 p.m. Location: Reaud Event Space, Room 101
In the 1930s-1940s, the WPA recorded the histories of formerly enslaved people in the U.S. Finding the original narratives in Texas archives, Babineaux determined that many of them were altered when published. She is the founder of the Museum of Undertold Texas History. Refreshments will be available, and this event is free and open to all. More info here.

Protect Your Health This Fall: On-Campus Flu Vaccinations Available
The LU Student Health Center, in collaboration with CVS Health, is pleased to offer two on-campus flu vaccine clinics this month, open to LU and LIT. These clinics provide a convenient opportunity to protect your health ahead of flu season.

Check for New Plan Year Changes on your Oct.1 Paycheck
Summer Enrollment elections began Sept. 1. When you get your paycheck (or Oct. 8 paycheck for bi-weekly), check to make sure there are deductions for the coverage you signed up for, and no deductions for any coverage you dropped.

Dr. Chunda Chen Appointed as New Ombudsman for ذكذكتسئµ University
ذكذكتسئµ University has appointed Dr. Chunda Chen as its new Ombudsman, effective Sept. 1, 2026. The Ombudsman will act as an independent resource to address concerns, resolve complaints, and promote fairness across the university. Dr. Chen can be reached at (409) 880-7981.

Library Renovation Update: Fall 2025 Hours & Resources
Construction continues on the library, but all library resources and services are still available. Check out the library website for our service locations, and the latest updates and information.

Library and IT Computer & Printing Services
The library renovation project will continue through the fall semester. Throughout this process, we have remained committed to maintaining access to essential services and support for students, faculty, and staff. With that commitment in mind, we want to share a temporary update to our service model: Library Building Closure: The Mary & John Gray Library building is closed for continued renovation. It will remain closed throughout the fall.
Circulation Services for Fall 2025: A temporary Library Service Desk is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the old Student Health Center located near the tennis courts and Communications Building. You can check out books, access reserves, and use interlibrary loan (ILL) services there. For full details on services, hours, and location, please visit our .
Support Services: Librarian support, consultations, and online resources remain fully available through Library Website or by phone at (409) 880-7264. Need help? Visit .
Study Spaces: Need a quiet place to study? Find a list of alternative study locations on campus in our .
Computer Lab and Printing: The library's first-floor computer lab is relocating to the Setzer Student Center, rooms 271 and 273. These rooms will be equipped with computers, and students may check out laptops for use in the 2nd-floor seating area and will follow the same hours as the Setzer Student Center. IT Help Desk: A temporary IT Help Desk has been created in Setzer Student Center, room 271 for the duration of the closure and will follow the same hours as the Setzer Student Center.
Cardinal Connect Laptop Loaner ذكذكتسئµ: The student laptop loaner program is now in Setzer Student Center, room 271. With this program students may rent a laptop for up to 8 weeks. A student ID is required to check out a laptop.
